The NC motor speedway at the intersection of US 1 @ NC 177 may allow RV camping since the facility is closed now. They only have drag racing there now and no more NASCAR events.

Hamlet, Rockingham, and Laurinburg are all very rural, economically depressed areas. It is not a very exciting or progressive area.

I concur with this poster. I was actually trying to figure which city is the less of the evils and I would go with Rockingham but if it was me I would commute least from Asheboro or live close to Lake Tillery or the
URE Mountains

Rockingham is best to me, of the three. Rockingham is closer to Charlotte, which still will be about 70 miles away. Rockingham is closer to Greensboro, which is still about 80 miles away. It is about the same distance, 100 miles, as Lauringburg and Hamlet are from Raleigh-Durham.
