Default Campgrounds between Charlotte and Cherryville NC

My husband and I are looking to buy a travel trailer and wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions for us. We bought property in Cherryville but we are not ready to build our home yet but wanted to visit the area regularly to learn more about the State we want to call home. Does anyone have any suggestions for first time campers and suggestions on campgrounds (around areas like Charlotte and Cherryville) that would be safe, nice, clean and reasonable.

Congrats on buying property in such a nice area!

I would highly recommend you consider the Kings Mountain State Park campground - I think it is really nice and very scenic. This area was the scene of a Revolunary War battle and has a neat visitor center and path you can walk all around the battlefield. The campground is just over the state line in South Carolina. Here is a link for you:

Kings Mountain National Military Park

Camping:
Within the Kings Mountain National Military Park there is one designated backcountry campsite. The adjoining Kings Mountain State Park has a 116 site developed campground that is open year-round. Camping is on a first come basis. Further information on the campground is available by calling (803) 222-3209.
