Southern belles are just southern "ladies." True ladies--who still believe in chivalry.

Just use good manners, LOL. That will make you very appealing.

Other skills to help you feel at home with Southern Belles (and their families):

1. Know how to light up a grill; learn to how to grill a few things other than just steak
2. Know how to dress up on occasion
3. Have a pleasant demeanor. A nice sense of humor goes a long way.
4. Be open to trying out foods you have not tried, including whatever type of BBQ is popular wherever you move or visit
5. Always use good manners
6. Don't make fun of Southern customs
7. Southern Belles call their fathers "Daddy" - and don't ever disparage Daddy
8. Don't ask if all Southerners inter-marry, Hee Hee
9. Don't get insulted if you get called a Yankee, especially if someone is teasing you
10. Robert E. Lee's horse's name was Traveler. Know things like that, LOL!!!!
11. Learn to golf and play tennis; learn to fish; if you don't have a gun, at least act interested and if invited to hunt w/ a Southern Belle's brother or daddy, take them up on the invite
12. For God's sake, if you don't like sweetened ice tea, order another beverage. If at someone's home, do not ask if your hostess has unsweetened iced tea - she won't. Just ask for a coke.
