Speeding ticket
I was issued a speeding ticket in Wilkeboro from a state trooper - 70 in a 55. I plan to fight this ticket and want to represent myself in court. What should be my approach in court? Thanks so much.

Pay the lawyer to make it go away. No points on your insurance. You should be getting lots of letters from lawyers by now. It is the NC way.

Is this your 1st ticket? If it is, you can go talk to the DA's office, and sometimes they'll make it go away, or plead it down to a lesser charge.

And you were going 70 in a 55? I'm guessing you knew you were going over the speed limit, right? What's to argue about? Just stop and think about all the other times you have gotten away with going over the speed limit--you got caught this time. Personally I don't see any approach that may work in court unless maybe this is your first ticket? Even then they would probably only reduce it. A lawyer would be your best approach...and maybe to slow down!

Maybe you should just pay the fine and SLOW DOWN
Driving is a privilege, not a god given right, or even protected under the constitution.

First of all, I was not doing 80. Secondly, I hardly ever go over the speed limit. Thirdly, we all speed once in a while. Lastly, ask me about specifics before you attempt to crack funny jokes. It may be funny to you, but not to me.

You are lucky the trooper didn't pull your license right then and there - at 15 over, they generally do. Good luck in traffic court.

Yes, I guess I am lucky in retrospect, but cars where in the left lane passing me up. I just don't get it why he pulled me over.
