I know a friend of mine got out of the Air Force there at Pope and neither him or his wife could find any work in town. They ended up moving over 2 hours away to a little town south of La Grange and got jobs almost overnight.

Ha! I've left Goldsboro to move to Fayetteville because there are jobs here. Fayetteville is set to become the 2nd largest concentration of defense contractors outside DC/N.VA

What on earth could be south of La Grange?

The crime might not be as high as where you are but then again the law enforcement in this town doesn't put your frantic call of a burglar in your house as top priority either, and they might come to your door 3 hours later after said burglar steals half your stuff. And there's not much you can do about it. If you need the cops any faster you have to mention "homicide".

Deez - I have to disagree with you on this, given my experience two months ago. Granted I was dealing with the Cumberland County Sheriff and NOT the Fayetteville City police (we are outside city limits) I placed a 911 call to the Sheriff and they showed up very quickly. Both of the deputies were very nice, concerned and kind to me and my young sons (my husband was TDY at the time) I felt very relieved, as a new resident of Fayetteville, that such dedicated lawmen were on the job.

Wow I didn't know they had BRAC relocate to the city. Well this sounds like a good break for the city. So what do you think this means to the city and the people. I think it's great start to boost the economy for the area. You know when that happens more people and more things that they have to add to accomodate an influx of people. I think that is a good sign for the city. People have been complaining about jobs not being there, so what is your opinion.

Nothing really...but that is where they moved to because they found a place to live. They just travel into town. One of them now works in a factory the other in a nursing home. Not the best paying jobs in the world mind you but the factory worker last I talked to him makes like $18 hr. after being on the job for a few years.

Now for retired military they could become civil service.

Well I'm happy for you for prompt service. I still don't know why it took the cops over half an hour to respond to a motor vehicle accident I was in (I was not at fault BTW) on Bragg Blvd in front of Powers Swain Chevy.
