Default thinking of relocating to albemarle, NC from Alabama

We are a african american family looking to relocate to Albemarle. We are looking to rent a house for now. I would perfer to love in a rural community. any ideas where we should start looking? I also want to find good schools in the area for my daughters (12 and 16). Please provide any feedback on what we can expect living in albemarle.

You might want to try asking on the Charlotte forum, since Albemarle is so close to Charlotte. I was born there (a loooong time ago) and haven't had family there in quite some time, so unfortunately I can't give you current information.

Just happened to read your post. Good luck finding information. My husband just opened a store in Wadesboro and we were checking out the surrounding areas and there was not much information that I could find about Albemarle or Locust, except people said they were "nice" We ended up moving into Union County because everyone raved about the schools. We are not in the country, though. Actually, you could probably find rural areas in eastern Union county. 601 south has some rural areas, but aren't actually too far from town and shopping. There were some rental homes that we looked at in that area. I am not sure where you will be working or what exactly you are looking for. I couldn't even find anything about those two towns on craigslist.
