We currently live in the Wilmington area and are trying to find a great small town (10,000-20,000) in NC to raise a family.
We need a big old house (at least 2000 s.f.)with lots of space under $180,000!
My husband teaches high school and I stay at home so we're definitely on a budget. We'd like to get an older home (1920's-1970's) to fix-up with at least 4 bdrms.
We love the feel of downtown Wilmington but the prices are outrageous and the crime is an issue.
We visited Whiteville last week and really liked the downtown area but freaked out when we saw it was rated the highest in the state for crime. We have 3 girls under 5 so we need great schools, low crime and would love to live in a downtown environment where we can walk to church, the playground, etc...
I appreciate any suggestions...we're hoping to move next summer if we can sell our current home.
