Here one I heard today is

Britches in reference to someone pants
It can only be used if the pants need adjusting or put away, and not in reference for shopping.

For instance
Pull up your britches or put away your britches
Saying Im going to shop for briches doesnt work.

You're getting too big for your britches.

Beat me to the punch! My grandmother used to say that to me quite a bit when I was a little one!

Ne NC

"not worth a dried apple"= speaks for itself lol
"bust yer cakes" = fall down
"slicker than hog snot"

"then" and "than" pronounced exactly the same way

"runned"= ran
"ain't no matter" = doesn't matter
"hush yo mouf" = you don't say?
"wound up tighter then a tick on a dogs a$$" = excited, mad, etc.
"like pullin hen's teeth"
"no bigger than a cat fart"= very small lol

Oh, I could go on and on. And the Cokecola is Cocola around here. I remember as a child standing around in the old hardware store in Edenton with my Dad and the oldtimers and buying those little bottles of Coca Cola and pouring one of those little bags of Lance salted peanuts in it. Boy , was that some good stuff. And I can't think of anywhere else you can get pickled "hairins"(herring).

Brad

Default Noodling

Man, did anyone else see the PBS show that is running right now about "Noodling?" I had never heard of it before. Fishing with nothing but bare hands!

My dad grew up in Oregon and he uses the term britches for pants. For example, "The cleaners at the hotel lost my britches!"

Talking favorite slang

something i do a lot at work " gettin in a wad""= stressed OR- fixin to get in a wad is when i am busy but not quite stressed but can feel it coming on. lol:

Also, when I am really tired,I get the "budges" in my legs.

But my favorite is when someone askes 'WHAT MODEL ARE YA"= meaning what year were you made or otherwise known as your birthdate.

smart - not neccessarily being intelligent but hard working.

ex: "I cleaned out my barn today, cleaned my whole house, wushed the truck, and cut the grass" reply from other person--" well aint you being smart"!OR "umm, my house and yard are so nasty-i sure wish i was smart like you"
