sixfive is on a distinguished road
Default NY, Long Island to NC, Raleigh or Charlotte Area

Hello All,

I have been searching for forum for some time but wanted to ask the questions myself. I live in Suffolk County, LI with my wife and my 2 and 7 year old sons. I am thinking about making a move down to N.C. We are going to be visiting within a month or 2. I am looking for good schools and also houses that are over 2500sqft in the 200k or 300K. We also want to be in the proximity to the city just in case we want to go out for the city feel. I'm in the IT business and my wife is in the fashion Business. Any information you can give me on good schools, good towns, Where are the employment areas relevant to our careers, any thing. Also we are huge on sports with the kids. Any info please.

Thanks

Both the Charlotte and Raleigh areas have very good economies and are great places to live. I live in the Charlotte area and love it here. Of the two, Charlotte has a more "big city" feel. Awesome downtown! There's a lot to do recreationally throughout the area. Some of the suburban areas with low taxes, safety, good freeway access, and good school are Concord/Harrisburg (NE of Charlotte), Mooresville (north), Belmont (west), Ft. Mill (south). If you want any more info, just pm me. Good luck!!!

I am in the Wake County area.. about 30 minutes south of Raleigh.. 20 minutes from Cary/Apex where all the shopping is.

I work in Cary in a popular hotel and I tell ya what, I see a LOT of folks from NY areas coming in to relocate. They all seem to love Cary but then realize there is more to NC than just that. Some have the desire to be in a more country area like Willow Spring which is outside of Fuquay-Varina. Nice area.. VERY affordable.

Check out this website. Its NOT mine, but the local agent in my area that is selling homes. www.reidonnasellshomes.com You can search a popular development still building .. got another 40 homes to start going up soon and in the price ranges you seek.

Also you can do a general check with the zip code 27592 in Realtor.com.

If you want more information please do not hesitate to ask me anything.. I love it here .. I moved here from NJ a year ago and I will never ever go back!!! I have conformed to the lifestyle easily and I am all over the way of life down here. We just couldn't be happier!

Good luck to you!
Linda

We relocated from Nassau County (Plainview) in 1998 -- we love it here . You should be able to find what you're looking for in this area (south!) in your price range. I have the names of some IT headhunters if you would like -- just PM me and I would be happy to send them on
