Butter for 1.99 or 1.50 here in NH????? If I saw that I would buy 5 of them!!! You must not live anywhere near I do!!! Or shop at Shaws, Hannaford or Price Chopper! I am guessing you have a Market Basket near you which there are very few of past Concord or in the big cities. That is not the normal price of butter around here. I would say its 2.99 a pound.
I think groceries are expensive here in NH unless you can find a Market Basket the rest of the grocery stores are ridiculous unless they are having a sale. Eggs are about 1.59-1.99 now. Milk I am not sure I buy the Calorie Countdown because it has less sugar and thats expensive anyway.

Default Market Bastket :)

Hi Cindy,
You ARE a sharp shopper! Yep, you guessed it. We shopped at Market Basket for the most part. Quick stops at Hannafored or Shaws when needed, but most of the shopping was at Market Basket. Guess that spoiled us.

You know whats funny. I got a Market Basket flyer yesterday and butter was 2 for 3.00. I nearly fell over laughing. What are the odds?

So I'm not the only Market Basket fan? When I moved out of Fitchburg (which has 2), I really missed it. When I found one near my old apartment, and one near my current one, I was elated. I don't even mind the lack of English-speaking clerks or the Soviet-style lines.

Not an "addition" tax...it's a separate one. You are supposed to be taxed the regular sales tax on non-food items (7% or so, depending on the county), and the 2% rate is for the food items. (We can assume the grocery store's computer keeps track of which is which when tallying.)

Question Differences

I have been to NC several times in the last three years looking at possible relocations spots. One thing I did notice was that the meat is WAY MORE expensive than in S. Florida.

I would also like to add that the meat in Chicago and outlining area is less expensive than Florida. But I guess they have to keep that down so people can put up with the cold weather.

The State sales tax rate is 4.25%. All counties levy a 2.5% local sales tax. Mecklenburg County also levies an additional .5% local tax for public transporation use.
