Anyone move to NC, then leave because they didn't like it?
Did you move to NC for a better life, didn't like it, and leave?

I have lived in Cary, NC for 13 years, it is truely the best state to live in in the United States. Cary is a suburb of Raleigh. Raleighs Met Area is about 1.5-2 million.

I lived in Charlotte for 14 years and finally left. I moved somewhere they have great roads and excellent schools. Unfortunately, they have neither in Charlotte.

I'm curious to know which state you chose (I'm a seeker, not a resident...). You can PM me if you prefer, thanks.

I have known some to have said this (some directly, some were friends of friends thing). Not ripping NC per se, but some did think it would be some kind of "promised land" and were upset because it wasn't perfect and had its flaws like any place else (most which were subjective). Welcome to life morons. NC has a lot going for it, but it isn't perfect and just maybe where you are right now is right for you after all - ie don't fall into the "grass is greener" trap.

Left the state 30+ years ago for employment, but returned when work was no longer an issue.

The only other state I'd like to live in is probably Oregon - green, hilly, similar to NC, but on the wrong side of the country . Having travelled the US extensively, there's a lot of places I'd never live and only a few I really like. Lots of great places to visit, but few offer the QOL of NC imo - NC has a lot going for it.
