Default Moving to NC questions

We are moving to NC or SC within 6 months, we have family in Rutherfordton, NC and want to move within 2 hours from them. My thoughts so far are:

Mint Hill, NC
Indian Trail, NC
Davidson/Conelius
Ashville, NC
Tega Cay, SC
Boiling Springs, SC

Jobs are not an issue for us- husband works from home. We are looking in the 400K price range and really want a safe area with good schools for our small children. Any thoughts on these areas or some others to look into?? Any areas to try to avoid all together? Thanks!!

In that price range I would vote for Davidson, though all the others are nice too. But Davidson is just a great little town that most people can't seem to live in unless they are in your price range The elementary there is awesome too!
