Default Information on Robbins, NC

Hi Folks, I am looking for some feedback on Robbins, NC area from folks who currently or have lived there. Based on information I have seen on the web and in the forum, that this is relatively a small town whom is known for their pottery. Can anyone tell me from their experience how their school system is? I heard they are a dry town, is this true? I am not looking for employment as my job can travel w/ me. I have visited the area and did like what I saw. I'm more curious on what I may have not seen. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Not much industry in town---it dried up and went overseas. Haven't you heard John Edwards telling all about his "home town?"

Default Response to Robbins

I have lived in Robbins all my life. Like any small town there are pros and cons. I think for me the list of positives far out weigh the negative. It is true that Robbins is a "Dry" town, however, that is in my opinion a positive. There is nothing much for the high school age children to do there, and a alcohol would be too easily available if sold in town.. There has been for years a growing hispanic population, which some consider a negative, but I have found that the majority of them are in search of a peaceful life and do not cause any trouble. Regarding the schools there. Robbins Elem. seem to have trouble keeping up with and seemingly catering to the hispanics, but remains a safe school. Highfalls elem. ( very near robbins) is one of the best elem.-middle schools in the entire district. All my children as well as myself and both brothers attended. Its very rare to find a place where small town "values" are still taught. The pledge of alliegence is said by a student every morning before school and a moment of "Silence" is also offered... The teachers are wonderfully interested in helping children succeed, but they do lack extra curricular activities for more gifted children..Just the basics are taught there, but taught well......there are only around 200 children enrolled.North Moore, the local high school is also filled with wonderful teachers and staff, very genuine in there concerns for the kids, I have two children that attend there now and a graduate. Because of the mentioned hispanic population, there have been mention of "Gangs" that have moved in, but I, nor my children have ever had a problem .. Boredom sometimes breeds negative behavior...... The biggest "con" to me would be the distance you have to travel in order to get to a "city"...but that may well be why the town its self has stayed so beautiful and simple, because of its distance...

Default one more

Please do not associate us with John Edwards... the majority of us have not made millions being dishonest... by the way my opinion of him has nothing to do with his latest "affair" thats personal...but instead comes from his history of being your "typical politician" and not caring in the least for his so called "home town".... and the other response about their being any industry there is correct. its a wonderful place to raise your family in a peaceful setting, but there are no jobs....

If your ID is any indication of your interests, I would think that Robbins could be a great choice for you... easily accessible to the Southern Pines horsey scene, but better real estate values.

Default Welcome to Robbins

Yeah OOOK well that person who said the little problems with Robbins are the Hispanics in gangs they are very wrong gangs aren't a thing of race and there is plenty of white people as well as African Americans gangs but not to worry they cause no problems in Robbins besides the occasional spray paintings on old mills other than that they are a bunch of kids try to be cool because of people who are against the minorities. A bigger problem would be the rednecks from Highfalls which is nothing but a school fire department and a candle shop. Also I highly disagree that Highfalls is the best were does it say that! Elise is definitely better. Name the people who have come from there………..
Then the people from Robbins and Westmoore.

Sorry its taken so long for me to respond, I lead a very busy life. Im sure the person asking for information found your little rant interesting, then he probably decided to RUN in the other direction.... oh, and as far as "who" came from Highfalls.... My husband is currently and Av engineer for JPL.(a division of NASA. I am the extremly proud mother of a daughter that is a RN, A daughter well on her way to becoming a Pediatrician, and a middle school teacher, I also have a son majoring in forestry and a 13 yr. old that has been deam "Genius"... I would like to think that where they grew up had something to do with it... regarding Gangs, go talk to the family of the young man that was shoot and killed standing on the side walk in robbins, they might beg to differ.. Good luck with that petty grievance you seem to have against Highfalls, meanwhile we will be out in the world succeeding... God bless
