Default Why Rocky Mount??

I saw a few posts this morning about people seeking information on Rocky Mount, and I'm curious about how many of you have been there.

I don't mind stepping on some toes here in order to be honest - but I don't believe that Rocky Mount is a desirable place to live. Some people will say otherwise, but that's OK.

My best friend is from Rocky Mount, and I know a few of his friends from there through him. Rocky Mount is a place that most people try to get away from. I know that young people after college seek to get away from their hometowns at times - but I'm talking about 30-40 yr olds who have no desire to move back.

I'm probably offending some eatern NC'ers, but I didn't want some of you from across the country to make plans to move there sight unseen. Rocky Mount is a textiles and agriculture town (although it does have some other business). It is flat. It is hot. It has a significant population of poor people.

There, I said it. I'm leaving town for the rest of the week in a few minutes, so go ahead and fire away at me if you wish.
