Default what about Lillington?

i am thinking of accepting a job at Ft. Bragg and saw that folks recommended Sanford, Spring Lake, Southern PInes etc as places to live. what about Lillington? it seems like a good sized town. is it a cool place to live?

I think you will find there are many nice places to live closer to post and you will not have to spend all your gas money commuting about 50 miles round trip each day.

Lillington is indeed a nice a little town, but the downtown is somewhat limited simply because of the size of the community.

I would recommend visiting both Sanford and Lillington to get a sense of what they both have to offer and see how that fits your needs.

As an aside, we have many many military families that are based out of Fort Bragg living in Sanford. For them the commute isn't bad at all, and many like putting a little distance between "work" and home and the small town/city feel Sanford has to offer in contrast with Fayetteville.

There's also EAST of Fayetteville.....lots of new businesses and home going up in the Eastover area, and only about 15-20 minutes from base.

the commute isn't that bad. DH did it from Dunn to Pope for several years. Just make sure you have a car that gets good gas mileage. He loved his commute time to unwind before he got home. Lillington is a great small town.

There are nice subdivisions all over town. I live down in Hope Mills and drove to Pope AFB each day for years. There are nice subdivisions out by Eastover, off of Ramsey Rd, Gray's Creek, Between Raeford and FAY, or up 87 towards Sanford. Too many to pick just one or two.

I'm a real estate agent in town so i can't really pick one over the other. I will say, look around Fayetteville first before deciding to live far away. You might be surprised.

since you're an agent you're probably best to advise me. i am totally open to living in Fayetteville but only in a gated community. are you allowed to make recommendations? also what about the Skibo area? i'm asking because i ran across Crescent Commons Apts but there were no reviews to let me know if this is a decent/safe area or not.

thanks for everyones help.

I have lived in Sanford for three years... might I suggest Carolina Lakes or Carolina Trace which puts you in the Sanford area but all just south of Sanford. Lovely gated communities with really nice people.

I am not a realtor so it does not bother me to mention two communities that I have done work in and found the people and gated communities to be top notch.
