Traffic is not traffic anymore, it's a giant parking lot. The infrastructure has not been able to keep up with the fast-paced growth. Seems like everyone is moving here and they are doing it all at once. Our housing prices have more than doubled in the past couple of years in many places. It's crazy. It's a great place for many people, but, I don't think that AZ is the place for our family any more. We are NC bound....if not this summer, it'll be soon. My spouse and kids are ready to hit the road and head eastbound. Take care all,....and really....anywhere you lay your hat is your home as long as you have the people with you that mean the most. We are on an acre between Goodyear and Buckeye in the far west valley. We just built this house a year ago and really do love it here providing we don't have to go anywhere. Unfortunately, that's not possible unless we won the lotto or something. Where in NC are you headed?

a1m1700, be sure to check back in when you return from your trip. There appears to be several of us Zonies on the board looking to move in that direction. It should be interesting to see how you fare with the humidity versus the dry heat here. Trust me, I'm not defending the "dry" heat. It is like a 4 month hair dryer blowing in your face! You are checking Waxhaw, Matthews? Are you by any chance going over the state line to Fort Mill?

Oh yes I will certainly report back, I will probably be on this site for years to come. I spent 26 years of my life in NY and 18 here in AZ and I have to tell you I do prefer the dry heat. Yes it's hot! but I'm not soaked like I'd be in NC. It is time for a change though. I never thought I'd ever want to leave here. I left NY in 1988 in a snow storm and I have never been back and I have never looked back once. My first though of ever leaving this state for any other came when I visited NC last Summer. Since I have been back I've had thought of moving there. My husband has never liked the desert
and said he thought he was stuck here because of me. I think I am doing the right thing. This place doesn't do it for me anymore. What I think will happen soon is the Cali's that have come in will want to leave and I think they are headed to NC. Do you know any other zonies on the move?

One would think I am following you. I left NY 14 years ago. I have enjoyed the lack of humidity and mosquitos but I also miss the green. Having said that, it certainly has gotten much hotter around here with all the blacktop and buildings that have gone up. I'm not dealing well with that either. I guess it doesn't matter if I stay in the house because of heat or if I stay in because of humidity. I have assumed by several posts that there are other zonies out there just like us..perhaps they will respond and confirm on this forum. I work with a few folks that are in the same boat as me..want out..where to go? I did go to NC in March but only did the Raleigh area. I will need to make another trip down and check other parts of NC and SC as well. I did get a relo packet from Greenville, SC and was very impressed by the area (especially downtown Greenville) but other than that, I have never been there.

Snowy Buffalo. My sister is just outside of the Buffalo area..Holland..and she would like to get out of there also. It is becoming to difficult for her with the snow. It is my intent that when I get settled wherever, she will have a new place to call home.
