Arrow Skibo area -- yea or nay?

first of all, thanks to everyone who has patiently answered my questions.

i would like to get some info on the Skibo area of Fayetteville -- crime, housing, availability of tennis, average cost of apt. rental, etc etc

this area seems very accessible to Ft. Bragg where i will be working, yet outside of Fayetteville proper. thoughts?

The Skibo area is the MOST crowded, traffic-wise. There are lots of nice apartments on Morganton Road going back towards Reilly Rd (Reilly will take you straight through the gate onto base).

Skibo is in Fayetteville proper. The busiest part of Fayetteviille where all the shopping is.
LRoyal hit it on the head. Lots of nice apartments in Morganton Rd. There are tennis courts on Post and Fayetteville has a racket club on Owen Drive. There is a nice looking Apt complex a couple blocks away on Owen Dr.

the consensus seems to be that it is best to live in the Whispering Pines/Pinehurst/Southern Pines area. however, the thought of an hour long commute each way does not thrill me. are there pockets of areas -- gated communities that are SAFE -- that are within a 20-30 minute commute to Ft. Bragg?

There are some gated apt communities on Morganton as mentioned earlier. There is a housing development called Gates Four that is gated.

Don't let the naysayers put you off Fayetteville. There are many many nice safe areas gated or not. Come visit and you will see.

The apartments on Morganton seem to be very nice--that's just from riding by. They're clean, well-manicured lawns, neat in appearance. And like I said--they're right by the Reilly Rd. gate into the base.

i spoke to a rental agent in Pinehurst yesterday and he said that the problem with the organton area is that traffic is horrible whereas the commute from Pinehurst etc is longer but less backed up. truth? or does it depend on how early you're willing to leave?
