Default Nebo NC information

We have been looking in the Nebo NC area now. Seems the prices are right. We are not rich and not looking for a pricey home. We just want to be comfortable and have a bit of land. An older home would work great with some out buildings. We have worked hard all of our lives and now do our business online but hope to semi-retire. I am from a small town here in CA..Big Bear Lake, pop. 6.000 when I lived there. I'm not afraid to drive a distance to go shopping and enjoy seasons. I'm not big on hot summers. Any information on the Nebo area would be appreciated. Thanks.

Nebo cover a lot of area. We have some property 15 miles south of I-40 that has a Nebo mailing address.
I would imagine that the closer you are to Lake James the higher the price of your property.
Do a search for the recent posts about Marion which will be you closest town of any size.

NCBND is on a distinguished road
Nebo is east of Marion along 70 and is more an area (a large one as the previous poster mentioned) rather than a defined town. In the vicinity of Lake James you're either near Marion, near Morganton or near nuthin'. There is some reasonably priced land in McDowell County as long as you're not real close to the Lake. Check out the McDowell and Burke County MLSs to get a better idea of what is available.

Default Great Area

I live south of Nebo in Rutherford County. My other half does quite a bit of work up that way. You have to laugh when you say up that way, because it isn't far at all. You will definitely find real estate prices much cheaper here than in California and especially in the Big Bear area. If you are not afraid to drive a ways to the store, then Nebo is a great location. Has the 4 seasons, yet is mild. Lake James is nearby as is the Blue Ridge Parkway. The parkway is a wonderful drive on a lazy day in any season but Fall is my favorite. Myself, as well as many folks in the area would be more than happy to show you around. I spent many, many years working toward getting here to live myself.

This is a breath of fresh air hearing all you have said. As long as there is a P.O. within driving distance. Driving is a way of life here in CA so that is of little concern. And thank you for your offer to show us around....never know, I just may take you up on that!! Who knows the area better then a person who lives there??
