Default Need info on different areas in NC and SC

I am from NJ, living in MS with my husband currently, looking to move a litlte more north. We are checking out NC and SC because we are a young family and it seems like NC and SC is very affordable. We kinda prefer to be near the coast. We dont mind going an hour away from it. But we have both grew up with water, and we are just used to coastal towns and feel more at home in that environment.

I am listing the towns we are interested in. We are looking for affordable houses and/or rentals, like to have nice restaurants or pubs to go to, low crime, and good schools.

1. Fayetteville, NC. 2. Goldsboro, NC. 3. Greenville, NC. 4. Rocky Mount, NC. Jacksonville, NC. and our favorite so far 5. Charleston, SC.

Thanks so much guys!!!!!

Hmmm.....I visited Fayetteville while interviewing, not attractive AT ALL to me. It, and Goldsboro, are both military towns...although Goldsboro not nearly as noticeable. I remember my reaction in Fayette-nam is it is called, is that 'could there really be a nudey bar at every other corner?'..."YES!".

I live near Rocky Mount and Wilson....they aren't great areas (which is why we are moving). Nashville, the town I work in, is a quaint and attractive little town...and prices are on the rise. The good schools in the area are Red Oak and Nashville.

Wilson and Rocky MOunt...I bet aren't great on crime levels....what was that website? Www.bestplaces.com or something like that?

I lived in Fayetteville for 2 1/2 years. I was counting down the SECONDS until I could get back out. I hated it. It's a military town, so there's bars, strip clubs, dry cleaners, more strip clubs, car washes... not a place to be a professional or pursue a career.

I love North Carolina, but from the choices you listed I would have to choose Charleston.

Check out Hampstead, NC and Topsail Island, NC. Schools are good in this area, located midway between Wilmington and Jacksonville. Growing area with
top rated schools. Hubby is John at Ward Realty, Surf City. Two hours from
Raleigh, NC. Coastal living is the best! Compare home prices here and in
Charleston, SC before you move!
