So now that the sticker is no longer required, can I remove that eyesore and visual obstruction from the windshield?

I have wondered the same thing. I had to replace my windshield and the
sticker won't stick very well to the new windshield .

Man, I always thought that was a big sticker too. But I'm perplexed... was there a change just recently? Shame they won't change the inspection process from every year to every other year. What a yearly and costly pain.

You know, I had heard about the new inspection sticker process, but when I took my car to my mechanic for the usual 60k service, he noticed that my inspection sticker was going to expire this month, so he inspected and replaced the sticker. When is this new thing supposed to go in effect?

Effective today! Pre-95 vehicles just had a 40% increase in the Safety Inspection rate, other vehicles no increase. No more sticker but can't renew plates unless have a current (within 90 days) inspection. Big fine if no inspection on record by registration renewal date.

Why? Sucks for those who cannot afford a newer vehicle.
