I hope that you have a safe trip. I have been in North Carolina since 1992. I was actually born in North Carolina but as a kid I grew up all over the place. Somehow or the other once I got back here, I have stayed here this time.

I can't wait to hear about your journey! We are doing the same thing next month from Cali with the 2 dogs, truck and towing the car. Keep us all posted on the trip. I am curious to know how many days it will take with that kind of haul. Good luck.

Good luck. It will be an adjustment at first but you will grow to love the area. Give the people time to get to know you and to trust you. Remember they are just as concerned about crime, safety, etc. as you are and a stranger can make them uneasy at first. Once they get to know you, you should have no problems fitting in. It takes effort from both sides. Don't take anything too personal in the beginning and try not to pass judgement on anyone too quickly.

We moved from Miami, Florida to Rosman, NC when I was a child. I really didn't find it too hard to fit in but there were those that did. As an adult, my husband and I moved from Houston, Texas to a small town in KY. Again, I really did not find it difficult to fit in. It is all in the attitude. Give it time, do not pass judgement, keep a positive attitude, and don't take anything too personal. Try to think of where the other party is coming from.

Wishing you the best!
