Wilson is ok. Just be careful who you talk to. You wont be bothered. I am from MD (Olney) It is no worse than there and that is a nice town. NC is alright. Honestly the worst city I have seen is New Bern

I moved from Baltimore a year ago and I love it here in NC. I am in Moore County and its safer than Baltimore, the people are friendlier than Baltimore, its a beautiful area and finally NO TRAFFIC JAMS.

Currently we are living in Wilson because that is where my husbands job relocated us to an apartment while we looked for a house, although we like Wilson we have found a home about 30 minutes away in a town called Clayton. The reason I mention this is because if you have children I will say that the public schools in Wilson are the reason we decided to look outside this nice area. The schools we looked at here were really disappointing and a lot of the parents I have met agree that after a certain age all their children will be sent to private school because they do not like the public schools in the area.

I don't know about gang activity here. I haven't seen any indication of it...maybe I just don't go to the areas where I would see this; not to say it doesn't exist just that as a newcomer of a few months I have yet to see any gang tags (which I could see in Kalamazoo quite often).

Best of luck making your decision!

Have you relocated to Clayton yet? Do you like the area? My husband has secured a job in Wilson and we will be relocating to the area. I looked at Clayton homes as well but was unsure about the commute time. We also are looking into schools. We have two teenage daughters and a 5 year old so schools are a big concern.
