Relocating
Good Morning everyone! My fiance and I are looking to possibly move to NC, we are currently living in Michigan and we both have job opportunities near Mooresville, NC... I am wondering what areas we should move to for shorter commutes, Mooresville isn't are set location, there seems to be opportunities everywhere I look in NC.. I lived in Grand Rapids, MI 197,500pop. for about 5 years and really liked the suburbs with malls and resturants in about every city you go surrounding the Downtown area... any suggetstion on where to go in NC for the same kind of vibe?

You are not interested in living in Mooresville? It is a great area and rapidly growing - new retail every month and so many reasonable housing developments - and great schools, as well . . . and near the lake!!

I wasn't ruling out that area, I was just looking for some advice, I have heard a lot of good things about Mooresville, I have only been in NC once and I stayed in Wilmington, for a day... so I am unfamiliar with the areas, I am looking for something that has good choices for food, entertainment (Movies, Plays, ect..) a grocery store in the city. We are planning a trip down there after the Holidays probably around the 27th or so... I would like to have some ideas of places to check out! Thank You!

Have you checked into the Winston Salem area? Great restuarants, shopping (Hanes Mall) etc...
Mooresville is also a good location, Lake Norman is a beautiful lake and a nice area.

I think you will love the Mooresville area/Charlotte Area. My husband & I relocated here 3 years ago from Colorado. You should look into moving into the Mooresville area since that is where you will be working. Or at least stay to the north part of charlotte. The commute would be killer if you went south. The areas up north are great. Good schools & if you are out of mecklenburg county the taxes will be lower. Good luck & you can go to my website if you need help finding a home!

Mooresville is a great area. It has experienced a lot of growth in recent years, and home prices there are still appreciating. It's just a short drive to Charlotte, and only a couple hours drive to the beaches or mountains. Charlotte has just about everything you could ever want and has NFL Football, NBA Basketball, NASCAR racing, great shopping and is only about 20 minutes away. Many of it's residents are people like yourself who are new to the area. Jobs are still good in the Charlotte area, and home prices are still appreciating there, unlike most of the nation. It's a great place to live! You might also consider some of the nearby areas such as Concord or Union County, also close by to Charlotte.
