Finally someone else complaining about the income tax.....but you forgot about the other taxes! NC has a 4 legged tax system, used to be 5 before they lost a court case, here are the taxes

1. High income tax (what this thread centered on)
2. Sales tax
3. Property tax
4. Annual car tax (yes you have to pay a tax on your car every single year)

5. Personal Property tax (no longer in effect except for certain items) used to be everything that you owned in your home, furniture, clothes, gold fish, etc was taxed on every year. Now there are only a few things that are taxed this way. Imagine have to pay tax on an old coffee table and couches, ridiculous!

Tony

p.s. I'm from NC, I love NC, it's great, but I live in TN now 45 min from Asheville, inexpensive housing, low property taxes, No car tax, No income tax. Like I said NC is great, but if you like to be close to NC and be near the mountains, look at East TN, I did.

Not trying to beat a dead horse, er thread. Just felt it necessary to respond to the "how many states have you driven in?" response about my questioning of our roads as a decent reason for such high taxation. I have driven all throughout NC, SC, GA, FL, VA, Maryland, TN, LA just to name a few. Sure, a lot of those other states didn't have the state of the art black asphalt. But the concrete roads did just fine. I wasn't bucking over potholes and expansion joint failures/cracks all the time, and like I said, I ride on extremely stiff sidewalled sporting tires. I guess what I'm trying to say here is "No sale, sorry try again NC Govco."

SC has lower taxes, but the overall cost of living is cheaper in NC.
