Default Lumberton relocation-PLEASE...no bias!

Okay, having spent about 2 hours reading all about the good and bad of NC...I think it's safer to ask for website references to data about education (schools), housing, and possibly other websites similar to this but less.....partial? Having lived in Illinois, Delaware, and now relocating to NC from Indiana(and yes, we will be in the lumberton/fayetteville/elizabethtown area so it's what we have to consider!) Knowing that, we are a family that takes education seriously, and our kids are huge travel soccer players...it's quite popular in the midwest and very competitive. Would anyone care to post educated, useful information for us before we visit NC? We are a family that has moved a few times so we are actually cultured enough to understand that crime happens everywhere, drugs are everywhere, and poverty is everywhere....so please bypass that part when posting. All one has to do is turn on the news or check out a BBC website to see that what happens in NC happens everywhere. Surprise NC'ers.....it's not just NC (oh my!) Okay, I may sound a little frustrated but I just want useful information!! THANKS to everyone who actually replies!!!

If you really take education seriously all you have to do is search the scores for schools in that area of the state and you will have all the answers you need.

I understand and have done that....but I work in a school district and I find myself constantly having to send data to our state to correct data on their website...I suppose not every state is like Indiana (whew!). It just seems that the residents of an area usually have a much better experience to report than numbers on a state website. Thanks for the info!

I love NC and really wish I COULD give you good info on this part of the state - the truth is, it is an area of high drop outs, police corruption and higher unemployment.

What lovesmountains said is true. I had in-laws who've lived in that area and hated it. There are some great, down-to-earth people there, but it has its share of issues.

Lumberton has Pembroke State University near by and they Robeson Technical Institure near the city.
The High schools, I am not familiar with them as I have not had any children in them.
I have lived in Lumberton much of the last 2 yrs. remodeling a home. That home is now on the Market on 24th st. near Interstate 95. I feel comfortable when I am in Lumberton. Also, there is a private school in Red Springs, (Flora McDonald)about 21 miles from Lumberton.

Fayetteville has a large soccer complex behind Methodist University. You'll find soccer is very popular in this area. Methodist and the county's rec. dept, and the middle/high schools in Cumberland County all offer soccer opportunities.
