I agree with that statement. You will always have those kind of people that do, but around here people are from all walks of life and I have many friends that have mixed marriages of all kind. Are you thinking of moving to the area? It is a great area to consider.

Very few care. Those that do, you would not care about their opinion anyway.
It is stunning to me how often this question comes up. I shudder, what the word on the street is outside NC.
NC is clearly not as wonderful as the positive hype (land of jobs, land of huge, cheap houses), but no where near as bad as the negative (we hate Yankees and non-whites).

Some care but most don't or if they do they don't care enough to say something. I see a lot of interracial couples in WNC.

yep! in NC as long as you don't marry a goat or a hog its fine.......its your linage that's getting mixed up......  Some people are proud of their heritage.....others could care less.....no pride I recon?

Not accepted in rural NC...
I think the original poster's question is a valid one. Based on my experiences living in rural, central North Carolina, I feel confident saying that there are communities where - even in 2009 - an interracial couple would be ostracized, rather than welcomed.
Fortunately, the Triangle is much more progressive than the small town where I once lived. Your family will fit in fine here. We are so glad we moved to Wake County!

Repetitious, but I reiterate that most people (except some of the really backwoods types) wouldn't care. I work with a couple of guys who fit the stereotype of white good 'ol boy who introduced me to their lovely black wives. Interracial marriage pretty much rates a big *shrug* in many parts of the state.
