NC now ranks 8th in the nation for high unemployment. even Wake has now increased. Never have I experienced it this bad in Raleigh for finding a job. degree or no degree all levels of employment are shutting down. High paid low paid its gotten real bad,we are not immune. If you read the rates though, Wake and Durham counties are only at 5.8%, and Orange is only at 4.7%. I think that says a lot about this area, considering what is happening in the rest of the state and the country.

So true...#2 on that article is Scotland County, and my in-laws live there (Laurinburg). My father-in-law just retired and they don't plan to replace him. Yet another job gone in that county.

As a practical issue, 4-7% unemployment is high for the Triangle. Some counties have probably seen unemployment double relative to heyday of the late 90s.

Absolutely! There is no place better to be than in the Triangle. I feel very fortunate to be here, should anything ever happen t my job. I feel completely confident I would be able to pick up another job within a few months here. I couldn't say that back home.

Dude I dont know where you are, but you are either a repo man or your standing waist high in a stable. Folks its bad I personnaly know relatives and others whom hold great educations and there is nothing out there. I dont care what the unemployement percentage says, its wrong. My advice if you have a job some where keep it. I could not even imagine trying to find a job and im local have connections, out of state forget about it. Check it out your selves, dont buy the hype, protect yourself with real information not blog hype. Good luck to all..

So what regions in NC are WORST hit? The Triad with its furniture industry? Charlotte with its banking base?
It's rough all over the country, but who has come off the worst and the best in the state of North Carolina?
