Smile Moving from Westchester NY to NC...hopefully

I have searched within these threads and am still unsure about some questions that I have.

I am looking to relocate with Marriott to NC. I am unsure where. I have a 7yr old and a 2 year old. I make a modest salary so would be renting in the beginning. I am looking for a good school district, affordable, but nice housing, great family oriented neighborhood, not in the city but in the suburban area. I have been looking at websites for 3 months now and haven't made any progress, this is the first "llight of hope" that I have run into. Any help would be sooooo appreciated. I am also curious about private schools as well. It's so overwhelming all of the cities and school districts etc, I don't know where to start. I also do not have family in NY or in NC.

Thanks in advace

Do you have a choice about where to relocate, or will Marriott tell you?

I grew up in Westchester County -- we relocated from NY in 1998 to the Charlotte area and have been very happy here. What price range are you considering when you are ready to purchase? If you do have a choice about where you can relocate, what you can get for your money in the different areas may be a good place to start.

I also grew up and lived in Westchester (White Plains/Harrison) and we came down in 1992. We settled on Moore County (Southern Pines/Pinehurst/Aberdeen). Good schools, good weather, and affordable housing. Go to the first page of this website and type in the name of any city/town and get an idea of where you'd like to settle. A lot of info there. (crime, housing, etc.)
If I can be of any help, let me know.
