Default Going to Pope AFB.

Have to move to Pope. My family is going to stay in our home in Charleston SC and I will drive back to CHS on the weekends. I know a lot of folks who work at Pope live in Sanford and like the area. I have friends there. Since I will be driving home on a regular basis what towns do you recommend I look for a place to rent south of Pope? Would like to rent a smaller house or condo.
Something in the country would be my first pick but not manditory. I don't wan't to have more than a 45 min drive to work. The only reson I'm looking south of Pope is to cut the drive time going back to CHS. If some of you that live there don't think an area north of Pope would add more than a half our of drive time please let me know about the area.

I'd look for a rental in Hope Mills. It is next to I-95 and is not bad to commute. I lived there and drove to Pope for four years from 2002-2006. The drive was about 20 minutes up All-American HWY. You could find something a little further south near Parkton for the country feel.

I'm staying in a decent condo in Hope Mills at the moment until our house back at Seymour Johnson AFB (where I retired from last year) gets sold. The rent is only $650.00 a month

Are you a reservist? Didn't think Pope was taking anymore people except reservists. BTW I was there last year.

There is still the Combat Control School and 18th ASOG. Plus, I think there will be one active C-130 Squadron in the Reserve wing. I wonder if the 3d APS will go too?

South of Pope is going to put you in the Eastover area....maybe a 30 minute drive via I-295, and you're right at I-95.
