My personal experience with the Schooling System, is that it is no good. As for work, do not come to the mountains. I do know Sparta, NC needs a plumber, but there is not much work here unless you're looking at getting into Christmas Tree Farming.

Chapel Hill is great as far as schools go, but very expensive. Raleigh is more affordable and has decent schools. There are a lot of diverse popluations in Raleigh as well. Some towns in NC are very country and you might be better off in a larger area with more diversity. I would assume that Raleigh would need plumbers. The other nice thing about Raleigh is it's only about 2 hours from the ocean and about 3 hours from the mountains.

Raleigh is nice, and is diverse, but my limited knowledge of just one highly skilled plumber is that he was cut from his job with a larger plumbing company due to the economy, and as an independent plumber, he is having trouble making a living, also due to the economy.

Well we made our spring break trip to North Carolina and were very impressed,we liked the warm weather, trees and green grass, and found the people to be very friendly and helpful. The areas that we liked best were Raleigh and Cary but we didn't have enough time to see too many areas of the state. The only downside was being a country boy in traffic, all in all its a beautiful state.
