We left Somerset County, NJ, for Union County, NC, in November. We have two boys at home, 8 and 13, but we left behind our two oldest, 19 and 20, and the almost 1-year-old grandbaby. The oldest two refuse to visit us here in the "country" .... such fools. I keep telling DH it's only a matter of time before finances drive them south.

We left a lot behind in MD too. A 4 year old grand daughter, my daughter, my sisters, my mother, lots of relatives and 48 years worth of friends. It was difficult at first, especially for me for some reason. We left for a thousand reasons from over crowding to the knowledge that we could never afford to retire in MD.

But as time goes on and we get settled in things aren't so bad. That and the comfort of a 12 pack of Coors Light helps things. Just kidding. ;-)

Really? Where did you move in NC? We live in NY now but we want to buy a house and in Westchester in your mid-20's it doesn't seem like something that will happen anytime soon!

We're thinking of moving there and plan on going down next month to take a look and speak to some real estate agents. I just want to get a feel for where we should look. His job would be in Charlotte so something close to that and being so close to NYC all my life I am struggling with living in "the South". Any input would be great!
