I am a native, but have lived all over the world. I don't think any one spot or one place is all that special, but I think the whole of NC is. Mountains, woods, coasts, bays, sounds, rivers, small towns, big cities, history, modern, great universities, golf, hunting, fishing, boating, "racin'" etc.

Decide what you want to do the most, cause it is hard to do it all, then plan from there. I had a mountain phase, lived north of Charlotte could be trout fishing in 1 and 1/2 hours. Now in midst of saltwater phase, I can be redfish, flounder, and sea trout fishing in 10 minutes.

You need to focus, and then decide.

I'm wondering the same thing. Me and my best friend are looking to move to NC soon for a change of scenery. We're mid 20 gals who like to go out and have a good time but like to relax in quiet too. We're just worried we'll pick the wrong area. We visited Charlotte and it wasn't the place for us. We're looking at both Raleigh and Wilmington and in between, but leaning to Raleigh right now. Any more suggestions or feedback would be great.
