Advice on Speeding Ticket (Robeson County)
I'm not sure which group Robeson County should be under. I'm from Delaware and I'm a student at the University of South Carolina. I received a speeding ticket for 15 mph (80 in a 65) on I-95 driving home from school. I was hoping that I could get some advice for my court date. Should I argue it?
I was being tailgated at the time and only sped up to move over one lane. The police officer pulled both of us over. My friend and I thought that he was going to pull the tailgater, so we were pretty excited until he pulled up and pointed at me. He then pulled in front of me and pulled the truck over as well.
Is it worth it to even bring this up in court? If not, what would be my best course of action? I only have one ticket, which was also in North Carolina on I-85 for 15 over. I paid this without attending court (bad idea in hindsight). Thank you so much in advance!

You'll probably get deluged with letters from lawyers. I got a ticket there about 3 years ago. I was going 74 in a 60 on US 74. I called one of the lawyers and he got it reduced to improper equipment, I paid the fine, it never went on my record. It was about $350 as I recall for the fine and fees, but it was worth it, as I didn't live anywhere near the county.

Best thing is to get a lawyer. They will get it plead down and you won't get any points. Your insurance won't go up. It is the the way things work in NC. Pay the lawyer.

If his last ticket was less than 3 years ago, they more than likely won't do this...the best you can hope for is a PJC.

I guess it's not even worth telling them what actually happened? I was even contemplating bringing the friend who was in the car at the time to vouch.

They're not really going to care---the officer says he either paced you or clocked you at said speed, they'll most likely convict you and then you have to pay all the fees.
You can ask the judge for a Prayer for Judgement (PJC) or just pay the fine and slow down.

I too got a ticket in Robeson County in the area of Lumberton. 80 in a 65. I don't mind paying the fine, is there anything I can do to keep my insurance from going up. My local peeps allow us to pay extra and it goes on a STET docket. Any advice is appreciated. Chuck

When you get the letters from the lawyers call one and talk to them. Like I said before that is the way business is done down here.

How do the lawyers know I got a ticket? Do they pull the info from the tickets?
