Default Weather question between North and South, N. Carolina

Is there a noticeable difference between Winston-Salem area and Charlotte? Is there more snow, ice, sunny days or humidity in one area vs the other?

I would imagine there is some slight difference. The Triad is at a higher elevation, closer to the mountains. I don't know for a fact that there's any difference, though. I've never lived in Charlotte, but Triad winters are colder than they are in SC or coastal NC.
