I have to say up front that I am a real estate broker in the Concord area and I would have to suggest that you seriously consider the eastern part of Cabarrus County and the Mount Pleasant area. This area is known for it's rural, small town feel and great schools. I am a bit biased because it's where I grew up and where my children attend school right now. You will be no more than 15 minutes from the farthest point in Concord and still in a smaller family-oriented community. If you need the feel of the mountians; Uwharrie National Forest is only another 25-30 minutes from Mount Pleasant and offers all the beauty of the mountians includings lakes and rivers.
As someone mentioned in an earlier post Rowan County is another good option. In fact the areas mentioned are very close to Mount Pleasant.

If you look at the top right of each posting box, you'll see number of posts and reputation, also the join date. You can more or less gauge the helpfulness of a poster by those figures. You just blasted someone who is known for being very helpful.
Like LM, a few of us have been on this board for several years. I well remember when people were coming to this board boasting of selling their houses in California or New Jersey or Arizona for a ridiculous price - enough to come here and pay cash for a house. The job market was also a lot healthier than through whatever optimistic lens you view it now. If you scan the boards now, things are much, much different. That's why you are seeing the more cautionary posts like the one LM gave you. It's not to make anyone out to be an "idot". We've seen the despairing threads over the last year where people talk about being here for six months and haven't found a job, or are trying to sell their house and having a hard time. If you are going to respond to the kind of advice LM tried to give you in such a caustic way, you might as well not even ask.
You need to practice what you preach. You owe Lovesmountains an apology

well I truly don't feel I said anything wrong to lovesmountians and I also felt that they were wrong by how they responded to me, as if I am not smart enough to know how to make sure we have a job secured yet or what not. How is it, that they can say what they did and when I simply point out that I'm not an idiot.....I am a bad person who needs to practice what I preach??!! I just don't understand that! I never once cussed in my reply, I called nobody names, and I really don't care how long they have been on here or how many times they have answered a post! He could have told me what he said in a more nicer way and not made it out like I was ignorant or something....but it doesn't even really matter anyways....I ain't mad or anything. I am just mad now that you would throw my christianity in my face as if you know me. I may be a christian, but it sure doesn't me that I will be perfect and never get offended or angry or mess up! Why is it that when people hear your a christian, they start judging you as soon as you act like a human? You don't know me, you don't know how my relationship is with God, and your not around me to see all the kind and loving things I do for others that shows I am practicing what I preach.....but I don't really re call preaching any thing to you! Thank you....and If I did offend ML, sorry, but he also offended me.

Ummm, if i may make a suggestion here.
If your reason for coming on this forum is to get info about where to move so you can be near a certain spot, I believe our members gave you good advice on several close areas that would make an easy situation for you to be near your church.
If you read over these threads, we have cautioned people who are moving here to be sure and come w/ a job, as many are coming w/o jobs and end up in a mess - often moving back home IF THEY CAN. A lot of people are living with friends, relatives and trying to put enuff money together to go back where they came from. It is a heart breaking thing to know about.
Just as you said we don't know you - and should not make assumptions - you are assuming that some of us have an agenda against you or have insulted you by passing on valuable info about the declining job market here. Those assumptions go both ways.
I don't care if you are Christian, Buddhist or agnostic: you need to quit looking for reasons to be offended - and stop defending and assaulting. I, personally, have no vested interest in your moving here or not moving here, and I can't imagine that anyone else does, either! If you want to come, we all hope you will be able to work it out! We are volunteering our time to try to help you.
Read back over threads posted on the NC forum, as well as Charlotte, Raleigh forums - and see how many people are desperate for jobs here. We said what we said ONLY OUT OF CONCERN in case you were thinking you, LIKE MANY OTHERS, would be able to come here and then find a job. If you want to get insulted about that . . . your perogative, but you will find none of us has an agenda except concern for you and your family. We just want you to come here and be happy once you get here. We didn't know what your time frame was - you did not reveal that in your original post.
Lighten up. You have good info now on areas to move to - and you can start planning now and hopefully, reach your goal to move here.

Sigh...let's try again.
I can promise you my prior post was not made with anything but the best of intentions. As Ani stated in her post above, you made it sound like you were immeniently moving - you gave no indication you planned to do much research. I am glad to know you do plan to continue doing research. I cannot tell you the amount of people we have seen come without realizing how tight our job market is only to have regrets when they can't find jobs and get in serious financial trouble. Recently when two companies announced they had job opening for 500 people, THOUSANDS showed up to apply.
My post to you was meant as a serious wakeup call to how dire our economy is here, not to mention Cherryville, which you also expressed interest in. Last I checked the unemployment rate there was about 12%. In the Charlotte region our unemployment is up to about 9%. You need to understand that getting a job here won't be easy. And whatever you do, you should not move without jobs. I don't say this to hurt your feelings or to rude, I say it because it's good information EVERYONE thinking of coming here needs to have.
If you took my warning to mean I think you are stupid just please realize you were mistaken. If anything, you are ignorant to the facts of living in NC right now - but that is not at all the same thing as being stupid.
I think what silverwing was trying to say to you is that since you identified yourself as a Christian you should try to display some Christian attitudes - like not jumping all over people who are truly trying to help you, and showing some forgiveness when you feel you've been wronged. I certainly forgive you for blasting me - please forgive me for hurting your feelings.

Listen I didn't blast you, but if you feel I did I'm sorry. I just didn't like the way you said my idea sounded prudent just cause I wanted to move to be near a particular church. But I ain't even mad about it now...at the time when I read it I was already having a very hard day that day and that made it even worse. So I'm sorry. But now I am wondering how to work this site...it is so hard to figure out! I just want to delete this thread and not have anyone else read it! I just don't know how to or if I even can. So any help on that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I feel badly to know I made a tough day even harder for you
If you use the little red triangle symbol near the top of every post you can send the mods a message to ask them to delete this thread for you. However, don't feel like you have to do that - every exchange here can help someone, even the unpleasant ones. Hope you are having a better day today

I live in concord, and it is a very nice area, I do agree with one of the other posters, it looks like Mount Pleasant might be the area that would suite you the best. The schools are great and it is a country setting and only 20 min from concord.
