Default Relocating

My husband is currently commuting back and forth from High Point to Durham. We are waiting for my daughter (who is a senior) to graduate and we will then relocate. I would like to know if anyone knows of some specific areas (can go out as far as 25 miles) that are NOT filled with new homes all looking the same and having all the trees bulldozed down. A small town feel with homes on larger lots but not in the $350,000 price range. We would love to have an older home 30"s,40's or older.

I'm trying to tell from your post....you live in High Point but your husband works in Durham and you want to move (as soon as daughter grads) closer to his work?

I think you could very well find what you're looking for pretty close to his work then. Most of Northern Durham is very much like what you describe. Established neighborhoods, nice homes on larger lots, hardly any "cookie cutter" houses, lots of trees.

Default Tips on High Point

High Point is a nice area depending on what you're looking for. If you have high school students I would suggest private schooling though. There are 3 high schools in High Point, only one of which I would reccomend, Southwest Guilford. The other two are Central and Andrews. Alot of trouble goes on in both schools, Southwest has it's problems but not like the other two. The Furniture Market come in twice a year, March and September, which makes eating out and getting around a little more cumbersome but the up side of that is, if you're wanting to make some extra money, many people rent out their residence for market at a great profit. High Point is very central to Greensboro, Kernersville and Winston Salem. It's convenient to all kinds of shopping and restaurants. I'm not sure why you chose High Point but if you're not set on it, I would suggest looking at Greensboro, bigger town but a better assortment of houses and neighborhoods. If you like more of a small town feel, Jamestown is a wonderful area and easy to get to Greensboro and High Point. High Point doesn't have much of a downtown area, on the other hand Greensboro has a wonderful downtown area that is still in the process of rejuvenation. Very nice restaurants and great just to stroll along the city streets. Hope this is helpfull.

Friendship, a part of Apex wouldn't be far and has all country houses spread apart. Apex is building up but still has a lot of the old time feel to it.
