Default Info on Building a home--need info plz

Hi Everyone,

Did anyone out there buy a piece of land and build a home in the Mooresville/Troutman/Statesville area? When dealing with a home builder (either our plans or theirs) is there a base price per square foot? I am not speaking of the builders represented in communities, but a smaller local company that builds one or just a few homes at a time. I realize it can be 100K or 1MM depending on what you decide to put into it, but isn't there a rule of thumb for average price per square foot?

I just need a place to start to see if it's even possible for us to do or not. Can a person who has done this or an experienced home builder please chime in?

Thanks,
Terri
