Default Car Insurance/Drivers License

Hi folks. I know you have to have liability insurance when getting an NC license. What if the policy is from another state? Can you show up with that policy or does it have to be changed first? Anyone have experience with this?

Also, if you have your old states plates on your car and get a policy for NC, does that affect anything with your previous state? I know you have to get a license before you can register the car.

Insurance company is Liberty Mutual and am also wondering if anyone who has them here saw their rates go down when coming to NC. The car is older than time itself, so I can't imagine it will be too much.

I'm a bit nervous about this written test and I've been driving nearly 30 years!

Thanks.

I'm not sure but I had my insurance company issue a policy # for the previous state where the vehicle was currently titled in and NC. So I had two proofs of insurance, for two different states, just to be sure. I'm also not looking forward to doing this but I'm going to have to soon. Sucks.
