Hello, a town that you should consider should be Wilmington, North Carolina. I grew up there, and in fact just moved a year and a half ago at age 28 and a single mother. I love Wilmington but when you have been in one place for most of your life it's time for a change as I suppose you understand. Wilmington's main attractions are the beach's (many beach's in one area). The movie studio is another...they have filmed tons of movies there, such as: Cats Eye, The Crow (Jason Lee), A Walk to Remember, I Know What you did Last Summer filmed in Southport which is a beautiful town outside of Wilmington, and The Secret Lives of Bees, just to name a few. Dawson's Creek was filmed there and Katie Holmes used to be my neighbor, One Tree Hill is also filmed in Wilmington. I can go on and on about Wilmington, sorry about that, lol. Wilmington is really a great town and it might help to visit atleast twice to see if it's for you. Besides he beach's, downtown by the water front is my favorite area to go especially during the spring and summer, because it's always so cool with the breeze coming off of the river. Oh, and please don't let me forget that Wilmington had a ton of resturants.
Now it's very costly to live in Wilmington only because even if you don't live by the beach you are paying for living by the beach so it seems. Like most places you can always find something your looking for if it's ment to be. Well, I don't me to rant an rave over Wilmington, but I just wanted to let you know how great it is and that it will always be home in my heart. You shouldn't have any trouble finding a job especially in the medical field or engineering fields. I know our expecting your first child and I'm so happy for you. Quality child care is difficult to find anywhere, but the best one that I can think of would be Noah's Ark (which is located at Masonboro Baptist Church)and it's a 5 star school also Children's Learning Center and they have two different locations. When your child get's to preschool I would highly recommend a school that is called SOLA-School of Learning Arts. The owner is named Steve Adams and if your interested in your child being creative and learning in a stress free envioroment I would highly recommend you take a look at this school. It truly is the best place for children to make there dreams come true. Cyndi Buell is one of their artistic teachers who has a love for life, art and children. **please check this school out SOLA***(make an appointment to check this school out***I'm not trying to sell you, but please check it out if your the artistic and creative type. Well, if you have any questions please ask.

I would suggest the Fayetteville area to the schools are great (Pine Forest Schools) the people are nice and the town even though the population is around 200000 is kinda slow in a good way no tall eourmous skyscraper obstructing the view. Military and I hear Cape Fear is one of the best hospitals in Southeast North Carolina and one of the best Heart hospitals in the country. Traffic is great and not far from Raleigh or the beach.

Hi! With those occupations and your desire to be within 30 miles of an employment center yet live in a small town, you should definitely take a look at the Raleigh area. My family and I live in Southwest Wake County just outside of Holly Springs, which is in the outskirts of Raleigh and Cary. We're within 30 miles of RTP (Research Triangle Park) which is the area's largest employment center with a heavy concentration of the IT and Life Sciences industries. We're 20 minutes from downtown Raleigh and just a stone's throw from Cary (which is a major suburban city in its own right). As far as physical therapy employment, there are several major hospitals in the area as well as countless numbers of medical centers within Cary.
Housing in the area is fairly affordable (it really depends on what you are used to) and plentiful. There is a ton of new construction in the area in pretty much all price ranges, and you'd likely be able to land a pretty good deal. Most of the new neighborhoods have playgrounds and pools with amenities like club houses and water slides. A couple even have a lazy river! The area parents are very active in the schools and the place is teaming with local youth sports and activities. Children definitely have an awful lot to do in the area for sure. I think you would really like it here (most people do, Holly Springs and Apex both made Money magazines 25 Best Small Towns in America list) based on the criteria that you have provided. It's definitely worth a look.
The Triangle (the nickname for the area encompassed by Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill in which the Southwest Wake area is located) area itself is a vibrant place to live. The area is rich with education with University of NC Chapel Hill, Duke University, NC State University and Wake Forest University all within an hour or so of each other. Both Raleigh and Durham are experiencing a renaissance in their downtown areas. There are numerous parks and lakes and you're pretty much an equal distance between the mountains and the beach (about 2 hours). And if you're interested, there are shopping centers and restaurants galore.
best of luck!

Move to Nashville, NC
I grew up in Rocky Mount, NC and married and moved to Nashville, NC. It is the county seat for Nash County. Rocky Mount has plenty of opportunities for a job, and is about 60,000 people. Nashville is about 8 miles west, 30 minutes from Raleigh. I have lived here 17 years. Raised my children, small town atmosphere, about 6000 people, but plenty of shopping and eating places. My kids have lots of friends and there are two churches in town to meet other young people. We attend Nashville, Batist Church. We have lots of programs for children.
I am a Real Estate agent, if you need help looking to buy....
Nashville qualifies for 100% usda financing. Please come and I will be glad to give you a tour.
