Just getting opinions, I cannot come up with what to cook anymore, just trying to get ideas on this too.

I just came back from the doctor and I am dead tired. I have some chicken in here I was suppose to get made up into chicken salad so I could send some of it to my friend whose husband is in the hospital. For those of you that might remember this is the man that fell off the pick up truck helping his daughter move and broke his neck at the cervical 4th and 5th vertrebrae. His surgery is tomorrow. They have put it off and put it off as long as they can but they have to do it now. I am about ready to look up my cook down the road to perform this feat. I went to the doctor and then the hospital and had lunch with her and I just am having a difficult time rebounding. Not to mention that it has rained nearly all day and an joint that I had that is prone to hurt is hurting. Chris just brought in some corn and new potatoes so I have to do something with that. Maybe I will either barbaque or fry one of the chickens and save the chicken salad for tomorrow when I don't have anything else planned. Word to the wise, do not attempt to fry chicken if you have to ask how to do it. there is an art to it. One I will be glad to explain. But it took me several years to get to the point that I didn't burn the skin to a crisp and left the inside partially raw.

Thanks WenIs02. He knew me which considering the things that his wife had talked about he was having trouble keeping up with how old his children were and the fact that his parents are deceased and the like so I was really surprised that he did know who I was. Not that I wasn't around a lot but in the scheme of his life, he has only known me for about 15 years. And he is 63 years old. I think a lot of his problems are medication induced as well. They have him pretty zonked up on pain medication. I happened to walk in the room right after he got a dose and before it took effect.

Makes all of these posts regarding the pros/cons seem silly compared to this... it is amazing how tragdegy puts our own lives in more perspective about what is REALLY important.

They are a very religious and tight family and I truly believe that he is going to be fine. It is going to take time and a lot of love and effort on the part of his immediate family. But he went from Saturday until Tuesday before he even went to the doctor and he didn't misalign anything or do any further damage. I think the doctors were amazed that he was able to tolerate the pain that long and not further injure himself. I just wish I had known about the injury before Monday night. I could have saved her the grief. By the time she called me she was desperate. But I think he will be okay once they do this surgery and he goes through rehab. It is just going to be a long summer and fall.

This is one of the worst days of my life. I had to put my dog down today. She was a 12 year old Samoyed and I had her since was 6 weeks old. I know it may sound silly to some but I am so depressed it's not even funny. I was looking forward to taking her to NC at least she would have cooler winters and may even see some snow. I'm not even excited about my move anymore.I have my Chow left but my heart is broken. Sorry if I'm bumming
anyone out but maybe it would help for me to write this.

I'm truly sorry to hear it, a1m. I've been through it 3 times so I know just how you feel. Was it unexpected?
My prayers go out to you.
