OKAY! I have lived here over a year now and have been blessed without seeing a snake, but after reading this post I checked under my bed just in case! LOL, really they are here, but as my aunt from KY told me "I climbed those mountains all the time and never happened upon a bad snake". Now my Grandma would have told you different, and scared us kids something awful when we were young "Just stay out of the garden, them rattlers love my garden". I was honestly in my 40's before anyone told me she was just telling us this to keep us away from the veggies!

Default What kind of snakes in Wake Forest area?

We're planning on relocating to the Wake Forest area in the Triangle. What kind of snakes would I be lucky to find there?

I've only seen two snakes in the 8 years I've lived here, those two were snakes you'd see anywhere in this country.

I feel much better now!

I did go over to the new house though, and someone was way ahead of me! There was already wire mesh over the dryer exhaust and the grates around the foundation/crawl space. Yay!

On another note...how come nobody has basements here?

Well, one of them's a black snake everyone around these parts calls Jim. This snake's so bad that the media has dubbed him Jim Black. It's possible this snake might get caged up soon so you might not be lucky enough to get in a tangle with him though.

There's another snake that you'll wanna keep an eye on though if you move anywhere in the state - and this snake's got a name that even sounds snakey: Easley.

Ooops! (Wrong thread. Sorry.)
