WOW! Thank you so much for the pictures! North Carolina is the place to be. Its so beautiful! I know you all have been talking about crime in other forums and I must say, youll never excape crime no matter where you go. So go where you feel most comfortable and where it fits your needs. There are good people everywhere and with luck, youll find em. Charlotte has crime but so do small towns in America and the world. The only place you wont find crime is in Heaven and in my oppion, North Carolina is Heaven on Earth.

Does anyone have pics of some of the suburban and outlying areas? Scenics are great, but I'd love to see some pics of the kinds of things I might see on a daily basis......towns, roads, etc....

About the only place I can think of is searching on a photo hosting website...flickr or something similar.

Check out the photo thread for the Triangle. Most of the photo collections are of neighborhoods throughout our area, as well as some photos of roads, shopping centers, etc.

Really appreciate it - although many of those links don't work (ie the pics have been deleted etc, I guess due to being old) or are of neighborhoods I could never afford (and don't plan to buy soon anyway)......not to sound ungrateful, but I was hoping for pics of things like commonly travelled roads/shopping areas), nearby sights or recreation areas (parks, rivers), and hopefully some typical examples of the nicer apt complexes and surrounding areas. I know that's asking a lot but figure I have nothing to lose.

Offhand I'm leaning to Raleigh area, probably Cary/Apex (roughly)...but still open to other possibilities, so I guess the short answer is no.

New Bern
New Bern is for people who want water, great weather and the simple, quiet lifestyle. Its as far south as you can go on the coast and still have change of seasons. Yet, the ocean is about 40 minutes away and the hustle bustle of Raleigh is a 2 hour drive. Mini-hustle bustle can be experience in Greenville which is 45 minutes away. Live well and visit the chaos.
