What is the best area to raise young children in North Carolina? It wouldn't hurt if it's a LESS humid/hot area too!

It is tricky locating an area in the state that doesn't feel like a rainforest during the summer months, but the mountain region is a bit more mild. However, for families, I would recommend either Wake or Orange counties. Unfortunately, you can't really escape the blazing heat, but it is a rarity that any house/apartment would be without centralized AC so you and your family should be fine. I wouldn't avoid the area just for the weather, unless it is too cloying for you.

Hi,

I am a physician who is currently living in Houston, TX. I used to live in Misouri and then moved to Houston for job and now I am thinking about moving to North Carolina for a change. I am in my early 30s, married, not having kids. I enjoy outdoor activity, walking on the beach, and living a life of a 30s years old person. I would appreciate all suggestions regarding relocating to NC. Thanks in advance!

Default Moving From Florida back to North Carolina

I relocated to Florida last year and now I am regretting that decision. I gave up so much when I left Cary, NC to return home to Brevard County...BAD MOVE. Now, I am looking to return, but not sure if Cary is where I want to be, considering I am now an empty nester. My daughter attends college in VA and I no longer want to be far away from her, like now by being in Florida. What suggestions can you offer? Looking for that great city in NC, where I can:

Thrive
Family Friendly
Low to NO Crime
See amazing Beauty
Churches
Entertainment
Employment
Great/Affordable housing (townhouse & apartments)

Just want to make this next move my best move! Thanks for your help!

It's not the place to be if you are single and childless...Please believe. If you are married and have a family and are settled, then "Welcome Home"

Do you need a job? What kind of job? Are you retired? What activities do you enjoy? How large or small a city/town are you looking for? How close do you want to be to the daughter?

I got a gut feeling and somehow came to that conclusion as well....retired, single and childless probably even worse.
