If you lived on the eastern side of Concord or Cabarrus County in general the commute would not be bad - it's not going to be like big city traffic. This is a very rural area in general and Concord is the largest town closest to Albemarle.

I'm telling you all of Stanley County is pretty rural - Albemarle is the biggest town in the county. So if you didn't like Albemarle, Concord is the biggest, closest thing to you could go to. Cabarrus County has a reputation for pretty good schools across the board. There is also a popular private school there in Concord - The Cannon School.

Well, these days I guess crime can be found anywhere, but none of these areas you are looking at have high crime rates at all.

Hello. I too might be looking to move to Abelmarle. We will be relocating next year and my husband will be working in Salisbury. He wants to stay in between Salisbury and Charlotte. From what I can see on the web and realty pages Abelmarle looks just the right size for us with the modern stuff (i.e. Wal-Mart and a grocery store). What did you not like about it? Did you look at any of the schools? We too have school age children and this is a big concern. Anyone else feel free to offer more on Cabarrus County versus Rowan County as far as property tax and school district. Thanks!! Stanly County too.

I thought it lacked alot of charm that my current town has. The only two stores in town are walmart and jcpenny and I can't stand either of those stores. The people were so nice and warm. We have four children, so I am wondering about the schools myself.

Since your husband would be working in Salisbury why in the world would you live all the way in Albemarle?? It's not "between Charlotte and Salisury" at all - the three cities actually form a big triangle If you are afraid Salisbury would be too large for you with a population of 25,000 you could look to live in the great little town of Faith just 6 miles south of Salisbury. They are particularly famous for their 4th of July celebrations!

Well, Faith and Albemarle are about 25 miles apart - close to the distance bewteen Albemarle and Concord. But Faith is teeny tiny - less than 1000 people. I thought you said Albemarle was too small and you wanted a larger city with more amenities? I really think you're more suited to life in Concord. Concord has a lot to offer, especially since it's really close to Charlotte's northeastern border where you'd find lots to do in your leisure time.
