Default If you worked in Salisbury, would you...?

If you worked in Salisbury, 10 miles west of I-85, where would you live?

Hi, I've read several posts on Salisbury but nothing really fits our needs. So I'm going to give some info about our family hoping that someone can give us some ideas about living in NC.

Currently, we are in North of Atlanta, GA. My husband is considering a job offer from a company in Salisbury. The company is 10 miles west of I-85. We have 2 kids, one will be in 1st grade this year, and another one is 2 years old.

My husband will be traveling 50% of the time. He doesn't want to live more than 40 min drive (each way) from Salisbury.

We would like to know what options we have on the location of our new home. Here is the list of priorities and criteria:

1. Very good school (either public or private) (for private, the tuition has to be less than $10K a year)
2. Not too close to heavy wooded area. (our son is allergic to several type of trees)
3. Not more than 40 min drive from Salisbury
4. Close to Entertaining (fine restaurants, nice park or kids activities)

From other posts, it seems that Concord, Kannapolis, or Mooresville seem to be where we should look at. However, per the title of my post, I'd like to hear your opinion on where 'YOU' will live, with the conditions above. I am interested in a specific area of the city also. (ie, what school district you want to be in, or if there is a certain community or certain area of the city that you would consider)

Of course, we can't afford a $1M home. Our budget is around $500K. (which I'm very surprised that will get us a smaller home than homes in Atlanta areas)

Thank you!

Hands down, your choice should be Davidson. You will not be disappointed! It's a great little town with very good schools and some very nice neighborhoods - about 35 miles to Salisbury.

I expect you can live on the water in Mooresville for that kind of money. You be high dollar. You would have a very easy commute to Salsibury.

What's wrong with Salisbury?

For 500k you are probably talking closer to Charlotte/Mooresville. That much money will buy you a very nice house.

Nothing is wrong with Salisbury. I just want to hear everyone's opinion on where they would live if they get a chance to move.

Right now, we are in North of Atlanta. If we have an opportunity (and money) to move, I would go closer to Atlanta and closer to a good school district.

So far, Mooresville and Davison sound good to us. Seems like Mooresville has better elementatry schools than Davison.
