does anyone know of a NC license cheat sheet that's free? I'm not trying to find the easy way out. . . well yeah, I am. The thing is I read the damned drivers manual cover to cover, and failed. So i really would like the cheat sheet just to get it over with!
i'd reallly appreciate it!

This is the answer:
If you have to take the NC written test, google Jay Tomlin and DMV Braindump in one search. Then select NC on his page. There's info posted there that will greatly assist you.
BUT!!!
It looks like they realized what a good tool they had and now it appears to be a "pay for it" item.
Good luck.

Please don't be overly insulted, but if you need a cheat sheet to pass the test, you probably do not have the intelligence to drive. Anywhere.
Remember the pennant is NO PASSING and it is on the opposite side of the street.

The NC DMV test is hard...not because it poses questions about normal driving, but because it poses questions far outside of the norm. Things like how to be a pedestrian, percentages of deaths caused by drunk driving (very important statistic, but irrelevant as far as rating one's understanding of road laws and rules), and other non-driving skill questions. I passed it with 100% thanks to Tomlin's study guide.

I agree. The written test is not in line with the manual. I appreciate the Brain Dump was out there as a study guide. To me, it enhances the learning, not circumvent it.

I passed the first time just by studying the book...and I'm just a Yankee.

About 10 years ago, I had to transfer my driver's license from VA to MD. At the time, you could just exchange your valid VA license for a valid MD one. No test required. They made an error and had me take it anyways (I had not expected to have to do so) and I flunked it. And you know what? At that time I was 28, had had a license for 11 years at that point, had racked up a ton of miles driving around (including delivering pizzas to work my way through college) and at the time: I had never had an at-fault accident, and the only moving violation I ever had was a speeding ticket I got in 1989. Still have that same record today (although I cannot comment on the NC test as I still haven't gotten around to switching my license in the 11 months I have been here).
In short, I think I was (and still am) a pretty good driver, and have the record to prove it, even though I flunked a written MD test.
And btw, "please don't be insulted" but there are a fair number of drivers in and around Charlotte that do not know how to drive that well (a large majority have no clue how to properly merge, that's for sure), and I'm sure most have licenses, so they did pass the test.

It's been a while since I took the test, but I seem to remember the questions being exactly the same as those in the book at the end of each chapter.
