Moving to Morganton in August - rural area.
If anyone could help out with these questions I would be greatful.

Locations/recommendations for:

Grocery store- I like to buy at discount/bulk stores and buy a few weeks at a time. Is there a place in Hickory or Ashville or elsewhere within @ 45min?

Feed store- Bales of hay, pellets and chick feed.

Hardware store (big one like Home Depot type)

Rifle range- indoor or outdoor

Any Happy Customers? **Seeking Mechanic with integrity and has a lot of experience with classic trucks. (I have a 1967 Ford Ranger )

Last and least - an exceptional pizzaria. (does that sound Californian or what?)

Would love to hear YOUR COMMENTS on areas in and around Morganton to stay away from.

Any places that are a must visit?

Your time is much appriciated!!

Locations/recommendations for:
(All are in Morganton unless said otherwise)

Grocery store- Ingle's
Bulk stores = Sam's Club in Hickory
Discount Stores= Aldi's, Dollar General, Big Lots

Feed store= Morganton Feed and Seed might be what you are seeking.

Hardware store (big one like Home Depot type) =
We have a Lowe's & a wonderful Ace Hardware.

Rifle range- indoor or outdoor
There's an outdoor one, but don't know where it is located.

Our car is a foreign car. But if you are into classic cars, there's a show here nearly every week. Surely it will be easy to get several reputable recommendations.

Last and least - an exceptional pizzaria. (does that sound Californian or what?) = I don't know. There's Dominos, Gepettos, Pizza Hut, Papa Johns, Bucks Pizza, etc. There's also a decent but a tad pricey Italian restaurant on Union St. Can't remember the name now. My 3 favorite restaurants are 1. Ham's (bison burgers are YUMMY!), 2 Fatz (a Southern style Applebees type), and 3 Friday Friends on the greenway (good food, decent prices, and terrific views of the greenway.)

Where are you moving from?

I'm assuming you want hay for horses. I don't think Feed and Seed sells it. There is a farm near Morganton that brings hay in from Kansas. They sell brome and alfalfa, but it is high-end hay and would not be good for my easy keepers, so I have not bought from them myself. If you need high-end hay, the website is ccacres.com.

Hunter and Hound on Hwy 18 sometimes has hay. I've never bought there, either.

For my hay I got recommendations from the woman who trims my horses' hooves.
