I lived in NC my entire life and can give you thoughts on these places and also Wilmington and Asheville - to a lesser extent. feel free to PM me.

I would like to know about Raleigh or Charlotte. Which city is better to live? What area of the city is the best in Raleight or Charlotte. Thanks in advance for your help.

Here Goes:

Raleigh is nice (mostly), but overrated and the wages are not that great.

Winston-Salem is on a rebound of sorts, but from what I can tell has no nightlife to speak of.

Charlotte is so darn big now that you can find most anything you want (except high paying jobs that aren't connected to the banking industry).

Wilmington and Asheville are very nice , but too small not to depend way too much on the vacation/tourism economy.

This comes from someone who was raised in NC and has spent most of my life here and has connections and/or has spent time in ALL of the aforementioned areas.
