Hickory, NC, Catawba Co? (Charlotte, Greensboro: homes, movie theater, high school)

Mountain view is nice, our friends live there. There's an area near Mountainview Elementary, Doe Run is the street. That is a very confusing area, we got lost in there for about 30 mins! Bakers Mountain is right near the area we got lost. Its the highest point in Hickory isn't it? My german friend will be excited to know this restaurant is so close to us. We chose Newton because of the size lot we were able to give.

Hey, dont get lonely in Mountain View !!! Come to the Old German Schnitzel Haus at the Westover Plaza! Locals go there as well, and a lot of people come from Charlotte and SC, Greensboro etc. They have a nice little Bar. Oktoberfest starts September 21. with Live Entertainment every Friday and Saturday. Hope this helps.

No, I have not heard about those. I assume you are talking about clasic cars? Well, my husband would love to see that I imagine. Thank you for that. We have not been to Valdese yet, where is this cruise at?
All I know is there is a movies in the park (what movies?) in Conover and some rodeo south of here, maybe Newton. driving around is the only way I have found anything for entertainment here. On the 4th of july we looked in the paper and found nothing as to where to go for fireworks, so we went north on 321 and found the baseball park and fireworks, lol.

We had them back in Virginia. Use regular WINDEX. Do not wipe off right away! Wait until the next day. Repeat ca. 2-3x. Did help us.

I would like to know about movies in the park too...are they like the old drive in movies (I really miss those, we used to go all the time up in IL when I was a kid...)

I am getting more and more excited. We will be in NC in 9 days! Can't wait! Where is Oktoberfest? Downtown Hickory? Are there State/County fairs in Catawba County? I love carnival rides and all that good food!

The state fair is in Raleigh in October. Hckory and Alexander county fairs were last week. Irdell county - statesville is now until Saturday

Aww I missed them! Do they have them in the Spring too? Bummer...my friends must not like fairs because they didn't mention them at all. We are really into stuff like that.

Hickory has its own oktoberfest downtown. And the Old German Schnitzel Haus starts its oktoberfest on September 21.
the downtown fest is on the weekend of October the 13.
