Hickory to Charlotte Airport about 50min, not bad at all. Single younger people? well, try the apartments on Ctawba Valley Blvd. behind the movie theater, its nice there

My husband may possibly have a job in the Hickory area and we will be visiting in June of 2009. I noticed that most of the posts date 2006. Does anyone have any current information regarding this area? We're interested in renting a 3 bedroom/2 bath home and in a Community College. Can anyone give me some information? Thank you so much.

All I know is there is a movies in the park (what movies?) in Conover and some rodeo south of here, maybe Newton. driving around is the only way I have found anything for entertainment here. On the 4th of july we looked in the paper and found nothing as to where to go for fireworks, so we went north on 321 and found the baseball park and fireworks, lol.
Hey a question....anyone know about ants being a problem here and a good pest tech to call? Little black Ants crawling around everywhere and going in our bathroom sink too...ugh!

ANTS - USE WINDEX - Glass Cleaner - do not wipe off - let air dry - clean 1 or 2 days after, or repeat a couple of times. works well...

The mountains are only 30 minutes away. Lots of restaurants and a mall, Walmart, Lowes, and more. They even have a $2 movie theater there.
Looks like a good place to retire to and I just wonder what others think about the town.

I am from NW Pennsylvania and have lived in Hickory for two years. You can't find a better place to retire.

What part of western PA?
Wife and I are in Erie, planning retirement within 2 years. Hickory is on our short list of possible retirement locations.
What in particular do you like about Hickory?
